The practice was established with a desire to provide patients with holistic, integrated radiology care. Today, our advanced digital equipment enables us to offer patients a whole range of modern diagnostic imaging services, including MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans, CT (computerised tomography) scans, interventional radiology procedures, general x-rays, screening, ultrasound, digital fluoroscopy and conventional radiography. We have a full-image archiving system that is fully DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) compliant.

Our History
Sunninghill Hospital and X-ray department was established in 1992. In 1994, the hospital was taken over by Dr Jackie Shevel, who subsequently founded Netcare. The hospital expanded and two new wings were added, as well as a Level 1 trauma facility.
Dr Farrell Spiro, often referred to as the ‘Father of interventional radiology’ joined the Sunninghill Radiology team in 1996 and was instrumental in setting up the diagnostic and interventional radiology department at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital. In 2019, he was bestowed the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Award for his contribution to the field, and his long and distinguished service. Dr Spiro retired in November 2021.
