Magnetic resonance imaging
MRI is a medical imaging technique which uses a high strength magnetic field and radio waves to obtain detailed images of the body. The visual information obtained is essential to accurately diagnose and correctly treat your presenting medical complaint. An MRI scanner has a strong magnet, which gathers information from the body to produce soft-tissue images. This is used to distinguish healthy soft tissue from pathological tissue.
Sunninghill Radiology prides ourself on our highly professional, patient-centered MRI department. Our advanced, state of -the -art MRI scanner enables us to perform imaging for multiple medical indications.
An MRI can take anything from 40-120 minutes.
Medical aids require pre-authorisation for MRI scans to be conducted, which our team can assist with.

Coming for an MRI?
An MRI scan may require a contrast-agent to be given to the patient to assist in visualisation of certain structures in the body. The MRI machine is an extremely strong magnet, therefore please inform your doctor if you have any metallic implants, as some are not MRI-compatible.
